No Recovery

To acknowledge that there are experiences from which we do not recover is an acceptance. It looks fully at the wound... the gaping weeping seeping wound and says "yes, that is now part of me. Not transient, not superimposed." And to accept this is  to take away some of the power of that experience over one.  The outcome of the experience is not smaller, or gone, or any more bearable... but is recognized as part of being rather than a foreign act or actor yet imposed on the self. One becomes again a subject rather than an object. And that is the beginning of something that is not recovery, but allows continuation. This does not seem to me a pretty story, but it is a story that holds some dignity. I have not worked it through.
Again I return to a base: to bring into being what one wishes to "be,"  one must first fully acknowledge what "is."
That is a beginning.
